The newly constructed Soweto Theatre in the heart of the Jabulani CBD is the latest theatre to have ETCs Source Four lighting installed by Prosound. This state of the art complex boasts a 420-seater main arena with two smaller halls of 180 and 90 seats respectively. The Soweto Theatre will be used for a wide array of productions that will incorporate theatre, music, dance and choral performances. With the installation of ETCs Source 4 lighting range the Soweto Theatre will stand out as a theatre of international quality. The Source Four range is the choice fixture for many theatres on Broadway and London’s West End, providing superior quality lighting with state of the art control and handling capabilities. A total of 216 Source Four lights were installed between the three arenas at the theatre, including 72 of the Source Four Fresnel lights that were only introduced into South Africa in January of this year. The new Fresnel optical system provides high performance lighting at a lower wattage, which makes it the perfect light for a state of the art theatre in a city where saving power is becoming second nature. Over and above the Source Four lights Prosound also supplied the Soweto Theatre with a vast amount of accessories, which includes barn doors, top hats, irises, Gobo holders, boom arms and lens tubes. The choice to install the Source Four lighting range will give the patrons of the Soweto Theatre an enhanced visual experience that will match any production in the world today.
