Martin from the One Night Stands reviews the TC Polytune
Thursday, 29th July 2010

I play bass guitar in The One Night Stands. We are in the process of recording "the difficult second album". In the studio we have some great gear, but on a stand in the corner, is the untamable Rickenbacker 12 String guitar. Untamable, read, "untuneable'.  That is until I bought a TC Electronic Polytune. It does exactly as it says on the tin. Strum, Tune, Rock. The Polyphonic tuner really made tuning up in the studio simple, and the accuracy was amazing. The One Night Stands guitarist Lu has a collection of vintage as well as stage weary guitars and the Polytune had them singing. The Rickenbacker is now being used with confidence on most of the tracks on the album.  The preset alternate tunings also came in handy for when slide guitar was required. Simple to find and easy to save, there are 5 different preset alternate tunings. If you still want to take your tuning to another level then you can pluck each string individually until you get to the tuning you want. The bright LED screen makes for easy viewing to.  Another feature the band likes about the Polytune is its strength. Cast iron metal case makes it a genuine stomp box which you can jump on without fear of breaking it, and it's sized to slot nicely into a pedal board.  The pricing of the Polytune is also reasonable, which I think makes it a must have for guitarists and bassists for both live and studio work.
