‘DJ Shortee! - How did you organize that? Wow…she is inspirational!’ was the first of many enthusiastic comments made when we announced that Prosound the Shop and RANE were bringing DJ Shortee to SA.
There aren’t many DJ’s who are respected across such a variety of genres of music as Shortee. Shortee spins an eclectic mix of Hip Hop, Top 40, Mashup, Funk, Soul, Rock, Drum & Bass, Breaks, Electro, House and Dubstep. Well known for performing at high profile events she has been Named “Queen of the Scratch World” by DJ Times and ranked the 1 female Turntablist/Hip Hop DJ worldwide. Shortee has been described as the “World’s Premier Female DJ” by the Grammy Foundation.
We held a workshop with DJ Shortee at Prosound the Shop on Wednesday the 11 November – a huge success and a taste of what is to come in terms of events at our retail outlet. She demonstrated, with immense skill, the new technology of the RANE TTM57 SL Mixer and RANE SETARO scratch live software. The crowd was blown away by how versatile a DJ she was and how she jumped from style to style and made them her own. The crowd consisted of Jozi’s top DJs and they all learnt something!
These workshops were held in Durban and Cape Town – with good responses and very positive feedback.
